The Challenge

Ladakh is one of India's coldest regions, with ambient temperatures falling to −20°C. At the Primary Health Centre, Thiksey, ALMIC designed and delivered a heating system specifically engineered for these extremes. The project was executed through EESL, bringing reliable heating to the facility without compromising indoor comfort.

The Response

ALMIC engineered a 60 kW geothermal heat pump system — two 30 kW units drawing on a horizontal exchange field of 12 Slinky loops and 3,500 metres of PEX piping. The field itself was developed across rocky, constrained terrain, with every element designed around what the site allowed.

The Result

The completed plant was commissioned and inaugurated on 18 December 2025 by the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, with the system's engineering presented to him on site. It stands as Ladakh's first horizontal Slinky-based geothermal project.
